Follow in the footsteps of Kallianiera, a young marble artist on the island of Paros, in the Cycladic Islands of Greece, as she masters the craft long held tightly by men. Kallia soon becomes one of the best carvers in her uncle's workshop and, because of the male hierarchy, is forced to hide her statues in the very marble mines from which they originated. She is chased and hunted as her foes attempt to remove her from their artisan circles, but first they must find her statues to destroy before her champion stops them.

Working on a dig on a nearby island, Paige's first discovery is of a statuette engraved with its extremely rare artist's signature, that of a woman. Paige's further findings lead her to an ancient story of betrayal, deception, and ultimate triumph.
